Are you interested in writing for Culture Shock?

  • Apply to be a Staff Writer

You must be a Boston University undergraduate student to apply. Culture Shock staff writers are expected to write at least three blog posts a month, contribute to our weekly columns regularly, and attend one of our one hour staff meetings every week. To apply to be a staff writer, please submit a sample blog post of no more than 600 words as a Word document to bucultureshock@gmail.com. The subject heading must read: “Staff Application.” For inspiration, be sure to read Culture Shock and visit Howard Thurman Center to learn more about our mission of cultivating common ground.

Applications are taken on a rolling basis!

  • Guest Post

PLEASE NOTE: Culture Shock only accepts guest posts from Boston University students, alumni, and faculty. If you would like to submit a guest post to be featured on Culture Shock, you must email the piece to bucultureshock@gmail.com for evaluation. The subject heading must read “Guest Post.” Editors will only consider pieces which are fewer than 1000 words.

If you would like to submit an anonymous post, you can do so by emailing us at bucultureshock@gmail.com. The subject heading must read “BeYouNonymous,” and the post must be less than 1000 words. Authors need not include their name.
