A Guide To The Zoboomafoo TV Show:
It was a family-friendly show which premiered in 1999:
Zoboomafoo was first released on the 25th of January, 1999. It was a family show which was aimed at the pre-school demographic.
It screened two seasons:
Zoboomafoo only featured two full seasons and its final episode aired on the 21st of November, 2001. However, despite the show’s relatively short time, it had acquired a legion of fans. Many of those still fondly remember the show today.
It starred two hosts and an adorable lemur:
It was hosted by two human hosts Martin and Kris as well as a lovable lemur. The latter of which had the ability to talk to the show’s hosts. What made this show unique is that instead of opting to use puppets, used real animals who were humanly handled. The premise of the show was to teach children about different types of animals and to instill a love of animals in young children. In the hopes that children would grow up to love and care for animals.
It featured an animal pit stop:
One of the main destinations in Zoboomafoo was the animal pit stop. Where a wide array of different animal species would pass through for food and would interact with the show’s friendly hosts. The animal pit stop served as a plot device to teach children about different species of animals.
Zoboomafoo usually appeared in the opening segment of the show:
As Zaboomafoo was most children’s favorite character, he usually appeared in the opening segment of each show.
Zoboomafoo death:
In the popular show, the lemur which portrayed the character Zoboomafoo was played by a lemur named Jovian. Unfortunately, Jovian eventually passed away from kidney failure at his home, the Duke Lemur Center in Durham, North Carolina. While his passing devastated fans of the show who had grown up watching Zoboomafoo, Jovian did reach the age of 20.5 and enjoyed a full, happy life. The date on which he passed away was November the 10th, 2014. While he started suffering from kidney issues back in June 2014 when he started to refuse to eat unless he was in his cage. Which is a behavior which healthy lemurs don’t exhibit as lemurs are normally happy to eat in their enclosures.
Zoboomafoo has 12 offspring:
While he has passed away he has 12 living offspring and even has living grandchildren. His granddaughter, Marie was born in February of 2019. Sadly as he passed away in 2014, he never got to meet his granddaughter.
